Lovin' This Look

Does anyone out there remember this first pic that I posted last week? If so...what did you think I was making here? Now I know all of you must know that it's a THRIFTY DIY project...is there any other kind? Well I had two THRIFTY items that were just dying to find a mate here at my nest...so they finally found each other...well it only took them just a few short months and just look at what a cute couple they make...ahhhh...love at first sight!!!! You have a $5.00 authentic burlap coffee sack(found it at an antique shop in Auburn)... a $6.00 frame from Goodwill... some FREE Annie Sloan chalk paint and you get the cutest couple in the nest...don't you think? I will say this is my favorite DIY project of 2011...I"m really lovin' how it looks in my family room. I also a few more new things hanging out there too...so come on back to see more of my latest THRIFTY goodies!!!
Happy that you came by to visit
my nest and I hope to see you
                                                 here again,
                                                    Linda
                                This frame has great bones...keep
that in mind when you are out
                                                 thriftin'!!!!!
Only $11 and I got this!!!!!

If I still had my shop...I could sale this
                                          for around $100.00!!!!
I still have the other side of the sack
                                      for another project...think I
                                             see a pillow in my
                                                     head!!!
                                          Annie Sloan...I'm having so
                                          much fun with your paint!!!

Sorry...I forgot to take a pic of the artwork
that I had here before...I'm bad about doing
that...silly me!!!
                              So simple...just cut and staple!!!

I Want To See Some Of This...Can You Help Me Out?

The temps are starting to fall...ahhhh... cooler temps means beautiful fall foliage is in the near future and Mr.CC and I are getting the itch to hit the road and view some beautiful sites, but I need some need help from you guys. Since we have never planned a vacation around fall foliage, we are a little lost on when and where we should go searching for some awesome sites. We live here on the Alabama gulf coast and were thinking about some of the following states to visit...Tennessee...North Carolina...Kentucky and Georgia. We are looking to view some back roads and small towns and hope to do a ton of antiquing. The dates that we can go are 10/16 or 10/30 and we plan on being gone for a week...so which time is the peak time in these areas? Since we have never done this, we are clueless in this area and need some good advice, so any help would greatly appreciated. Also if you know of any antique shows going on during this time, I would love to hear about them...I'm so wanting to go to one.
Thanks guys...I knew I could count on you,
Linda

Who Knew?

Okay now have I been living under a rock? Who out there knew that IKEA sold live plants? I sure didn't...I did know that they had some really good fakes that they sold at a great price...wasn't clueless to that tad bit of info. As I was looking at some really nice fake plants...I saw these amazing ferns and knew right away that I had to have them with a price tag of only $5.99...two of these babies would be making a trip home with me. The more that I looked at them...I was thinking...man these are really some awesome FAKE ferns...well I guess they were, because these babies are REAL LIVE ferns that need water and some fertilize every now and then...oh well...they were still making that trip back to the gulf coast with me. You see...I have been wanting some ferns this size for the inside of my nest for some time now and since I just found the perfect pots for them here at IKEA...they were meant to be...don't you think? Now about these pots (what I call...apple baskets)...these cuties were just $2.99 and they even have a nice plastic liner...SOLD!!! I'm lovin' them just as they are in white, but who knows I just might get a wild hair and put some glaze on them to give them a little aged touch. Mr.CC was so proud of me...I came out of IKEA spending right under $50...now that's a first!
                                           Hope you all have a
                                           wonderful weekend,
                                           I know I will because
                                             I'm on my way to
                                                     tailgate
                                           and watch my favorite
                                                 football team!
                                                      Linda

                                           I'm really liking the look
                                           of having REAL plants
                                               back in my nest!
It's been a few years since
                                            I've had any REAL plants!
Don't you think these are a
                                          great deal for $2.99?

I sure hope I can keep them
                                                 HEALTHY!
My sweet hubs won this
beauty at an office meeting,
thanks honey!!!
This plant had also been on my
                                                  wish list!

I've Got the Fever

If you are new here and don't know that I'm a retired shop owner...well get this...I've got the fever to start back at what I LOVE...selling home decor items. Okay ladies...I'm not going full power with this just yet...first I'm making some frames to sell to local shop owners and if I like how that goes...then I might just make some pillows and who knows...the next step I can see myself selling at some nearby shows. The business that I was in...was antiques/gift items and I was located in several upscale antique shops here along the gulf coast. I sold farmhouse...cottage and shabby chic style merchandise and lots and lots of vintage linens. So if I get back into the business again...I'm sure I will have the same style going on...until then...I'm just going to play around with some handmade (one of a kind) picture frames. How did all of this get started? Well...my best friend is just about to open a gift shop here in town and I offered to make her some picture frames for her shop and there you go...I caught the FEVER! Please be honest and tell what you think...that's what friends do:)
                                       Happy to have you here,
                                                    Linda
                                         Down on the farm!
What a cute model I have here!
We love our cotton here in the
                                              DEEP SOUTH!!!

                                        To be honest...I'm not really
                                        lovin' this one...it just might
                                              be removed from the
                                                        shop.

                                        Now this one...I'm sooooo LOVIN'!!!
The lighting is really poor here...sorry!
                                              Another cutie pie!!!!

Just a start...I have so many
                                             more ideas on future ones,
so stay tune there is more
                                                         to come!

Welcome To Our Den

Our TIGER Den...gotcha!!! Did you think I was going to show you our den/family room? Okay...I'm sure a few of y'all were thinking that...now come on and fess up! I'm a little late taking down my large metal flower that I had hanging here during the summer, but better late than never. When I was trying to come up with a neat looking Auburn wreath for the fall football season...I so wanted something very unique...do you think I succeeded? I used a 25 cent frame that I found while I was out thriftin' two weeks ago and some letters from Hobby Lobby...they were $1.99 each...add some burlap ribbon that I already had on hand...paint that I also already had and this baby came in under $5.00...not bad...not bad at all!!! Please note...this wreath idea can be done with any college logo:) If you want to see more NIFTY THRIFTY goodies...click here and join in at my weekly NIFTY THRIFTY TUESDAY PARTY...it's always full of some really "cool thrifty stuff"...take a look for yourself...I promise y'all it's a load of FUN!
                                             Thanks for coming to
                                                      my den,
                                                       Linda
                                                 Hope you like it!
                                                     I sure do!
As you can see...we are proud
                                              Auburn Tigers!!!

Now do you remember my
 25 cent frame from
last weeks
NIFTY THRIFTY TUESDAY
PARTY?
                                        Hot glued them together.
Then hot glued them to the frame.

Just used some ASCP (old white),
