Nifty Thrifty Tuesday No.77 and a Giveaway

What's up with a gal that can't get you her own party on time? Sorry ladies that I'm so late today...been at my beach condo and got back home later than I planned on...guess those things just happen. Well I'm here now and ready to get this party rolling...so come along with me and let's see what everybody has been up to. I've been at the beach, so I have something from my beach home to share this week...I'm all about saving a buck...how about you? I also have another great giveaway this week. This week Roselle from SEASIDE ROSE CREATIONS has donated a lovely chalkboard and a darling little framed vintage key to one of my lucky followers...so go by and meet Roselle and give her a big THANK YOU...now let's see how you can WIN!
Seven ways to WIN!!!!
1. Follow Roselle at SEASIDE ROSE CREATIONS...2 entries
2. Go by and leave Roselle a comment on her blog...2 entries
3. Go by and check out her Etsy shop and come back and tell me your favorite item...2 entries
4. Follow me...1 entry
In order for each entry to count, please leave a separate comment for each. The giveaway will end at midnight on Sunday 9/4 and the winner will be announced on Monday 9/5. Good luck ladies!!!!

My new best friend...okay I know that sounds
                       a little crazy...having a swing as your
                          best friend...but there is nothing
                        better than swinging and watching
                                         the surf!!!!
So what's so thrifty about her...first of all...as we were
leaving the store (Lowes) I saw that the display
had a huge price tag on her and she was $20
cheaper...well I went right back in there and
got my $20 bucks (I think the tag was a
               mistake...oh well)...then I asked the clerk
about how long will they honor a sale price...get
this..90 days...so if this baby goes on
sale in the next 3 months...I'm going to
get more money...hope this might help
some of y'all who shop at Lowes.
                             Another thrifty purchase...this one
was found at Home Depot...got her
back in the Spring...had a Lowes
                             coupon that they honor...another
                                            thrifty tip!

                                           Thanks for coming,

Now let's get all the info about this GREAT GIVEAWAY!!

Hi everyone!  I’m Laura from over at B & B’s Nest and I'm giving away these beautiful starfish frames AND a $40 Pottery Barn gift card to one lucky winner.  How fun!

I guess it would be polite to start by telling you a little bit about myself.  B & B’s Nest was born out of a love for all things vintage and antique, and my passion for interior design.  I blog about what I love and what's going on in our nest.  Period.  What I enjoy most is finding an abandoned vintage treasure, whether it's a small item or a large furniture piece, and giving it a new life.  I have been refinishing furniture for a long time.  And redecorating?  Forget it.  I change my mind on paint colors and accessories as often as Charlie Sheen says "winning".  But I had no idea anyone would be interested in what I was doing in our little world until I started searching the internet for inspirational photos of spaces I love.  Unbeknownst to me, there are thousands of blogs written by women, just like me, who have a passion for decorating, DIY projects and crafts.  What?  Why didn't someone tell me?  I would have been doing this a LONG time ago.  It just so happens that we’re also in the midst of redoing our kitchen, dining room, living room, office and soon-to-be playroom, so now I share all of our disasters and triumphs with you.

Not only that, but I recently came across a gorgeous hutch on a little website called “Craigslist”.  Ever heard of it?  Yeah, I thought so (*smile*).  Anywho, I sent the seller an email asking if they were firm on their price and it sparked an exchange of emails that eventually led to B & B’s Nest taking part in its first ever professional sale.  You can read more about the announcement of our participation in the sale here and how it all turned out here.  It was an incredible experience and I wouldn't trade all of the blood, sweat, tears and countless hours that went into it for the world!  I even reupholstered a chair for the very first time.  Front, back and the seat!  See:

Yeah.  I did.  And you could do it too!

Some of my furniture projects have recently been featured on Better After, Not Just a Housewife, The Besties, Beneath My Heart and Under the Table and Dreaming.

I even orchestrated an estate sale (think Cash & Cari) for a client in June and just finished setting up at a flea market this past weekend.  I even opened an Etsy shop and put B & B's Nest on Facebook.  Did I mention I've only been online since March 23rd!  It's definitely been an exciting and whirlwind couple of months.

My point in telling you all of this is to encourage you.  I want to encourage you to do that "thing" you've been meaning to do, or wanting to do, but have been putting off.  Do that project, learn how to (fill in the blank), paint that wall, shop that store, create that you-know-what.  Whatever it is, if I can do this, you can too!  In the famous words of Erma Bombeck:  "When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say 'I used everything you gave me!'".

A BIG thank you to Linda for letting me chat with you today!  It's been my absolute pleasure to "meet" all of you and I hope our paths cross again real soon.

I wish you a very happy day!

And now for the giveaway!!

You have 3 chances to win.  In order for each entry to count, please leave a separate comment for each.

Here's what you need to do to enter:

1.  Visit B & B's Nest and become a follower, or subscribe via email.

2.  Visit Facebook and stop by to "Like" B & B's Nest Facebook page.

3.  Become a follower of Coastal Charm.

That's all there is to it!

If you leave an anonymous comment, please be sure to include your email address so we can contact you if you win.  The giveaway will end at midnight on Sunday August 28. The winner of the starfish frames and Pottery Barn gift card will be announced on Monday August 29.

Good luck!

Thank You Annie Sloan...I'm In Love With Your Paint

Oh yes...thank you Annie for making such a wonderful product...this stuff really rocks!!! My first victim was an old vintage mirror (will share her with ya later)...today I'm sharing victim #2...my old sewing machine table. I have had this table for many years now and have used it in several different locations here in my nest...I even let my sister use it for awhile...ahhhh how sweet of me. Since Haley moved out of our cottage and we gave her some of our furniture...I needed something to hold our OLD TV (okay...now don't laugh...we still have some really OLD TV's around here)...no flat screens for us just yet...but I'm thinking really hard on that subject and just maybe in the next few months we will break down and buy one...yippee!! This table is just the right size for our TV...all she needed was a touch up paint job and she was ready to go. Pulled out some paris grey paint...clear wax and dark wax...then 30 minutes later she was all done...fastest paint job ever!!! Mr.CC could hardly believe it...oh my honey...this stuff is awesome...what a beautiful look...he loved it and I do too. If you haven't tried this paint yet...do yourself a favor and try it...it's really neat.
                                        Hope you have a wonderful
                                           weekend and thanks for
                                                   coming by,
                                                       Linda
My sweet friend Lauren is having a

She was getting a tad bit yellow!
Just a little peek of victim #1
                                               in the background.
Now look how good she looks up against
                                                 those walls!!!
                                                 Lovin' this look!!!
                                       Maybe one day...she will be
used as an accent table again.

                                            Victim #3...my end tables.
                                             Started them today, but

Hurry Up and Get Here

Please hurry up and get here...I'm sooooo ready for some college football...well to be honest...I'm really ready for some AUBURN TIGERS FOOTBALL!!!! Only 18 days to our first game and get this...I will be watching it from home and inside...now I know that's hard to believe...but it's true. When game time was announced and kick off was 11:30am...I knew I would be watching from inside with some AC running full blast...just way to hot for me. Now if you are thinking that I will not be going to games this year...well you are wrong...I booked our hotel room for four games last week and might just add another to the list later on. Talking about some Auburn football...thought y'all might find this funny...we had AUBIE (our mascot sing at Haley's wedding)!!! Okay...he was not in the Aubie costume...a regular men's suit was a better choice for the day. This young man has been a friend of the bride and groom since childhood...the three of them sang in our church youth choir for four years. He did a wonderful job signing this song by Matthew West...When I Say I Do...yes...I cried...it's a beautiful song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ui_FcYlI_NU
                                            Happy day to all,
                                                  Linda
                                                 What a cutie!!!
